The NBA recently announced plans to partner with FIBA (International Basketball Federation) to launch an African league consisting of 12 teams across the continent. This, in addition to their new state of the art training center in Saly, shows their dedication to train the next generation of NBA players.
But basketball has not been an unknown sport in Senegal. With a five time gold medal winning national team, which joined FIBA in 1962, Senegal has produced a number of high profile players who went on to play in the NBA and WNBA over the years.
